The Washington Cherry Blossom Festival is coming to a close this weekend – April 12th.
Did you fight the crowds to see the gorgeous blossoms?
If not – go now! Peek blooms are expected
April 11-14 this year! (The peak bloom date is defined as the day when 70% of the Yoshino Cherry blossoms are open.)
The Cherry blossoms have been blooming around the tidal basin for over 100 years. The plantings of cherry trees originated in 1912 as a gift of friendship to the people of the United States from the people of Japan. In 1934, the District of Columbia Commissioners sponsored a three-day celebration which has been expanded over the years to the two-week festival we have today.
Look for great spring flower designs in our spring section. We sometimes even feature a cherry blossom bouquet.
