During the week of July 16 to July 25, Conklyn’s joins other florists from all over the country in celebrating the sixteenth annual Make Someone Smile® Week. Teleflora started this charity event in which flower shops encourage their customers, and members of our community as a whole, to reach out to people whom, for whatever reason, might benefit from a smile – in the form of a gift of flowers.
We feel certain that everyone has aging parents, grandparents or other relatives, some of whom may be in nursing homes, hospitals, or assisted living facilities. Perhaps you know someone who is undergoing treatment for cancer or some other serious illness. It doesn’t matter whether you know someone personally who could benefit from an act of kindness. Our goal with this campaign is to reach out to people, even strangers, with a small gesture that will make them smile – even if only briefly – upon receiving the flowers you give them.
We’ve come up with some ideas that we hope will inspire you, or help you choose a flower arrangement that is guaranteed to cheer someone up during Make Someone Smile® Week.
Be Happy Bouquet
Our Be Happy® bouquet is the signature arrangement for this crusade. This whimsical and adorable arrangement is a classic. It just oozes summertime and happiness. Who wouldn’t smile upon receiving it? We choose happy daisies and beautiful yellow roses and carefully nestle them in Teleflora’s signature keepsake Be Happy® mug. The bright yellow round mug is the perfect backdrop for the black smile that is painted on it. This is the perfect token for a man, woman, young person or older person.
Cheerful Smiles
Elegance and simplicity characterize our Cheerful Smiles arrangement. We use a clear glass vase so that nothing deflects attention from the sunny and happy look of the flowers we place in the vase. Orange gerbera daisies and yellow mums ooze summery fun and simplicity while yellow calla lilies add a touch of sophistication. We add accents in the form of hypericum berries, greenery, and cattails. This classic arrangement is reminiscent of a summer sunrise or sunset, while it also suggests the start of autumn.
Burst of Sunshine
If you want to cheer someone up with flowers, you will definitely accomplish that with sunflowers. Our Burst of Sunshine is a delightful not to summer, and one that is sure to make someone smile. We carefully select ten perfect sunflowers and arrange them in a clear glass vase. We dress it up a bit by wrapping the vase in red mesh, and then using a cute yellow and orange plaid bow to tie secure the mesh around the vase.
